- Spain in February reached 2.8 million international tourists, up 4.3% over the same month of 2010.
- Recovering the path of growth in February, after registering falls in that month in the last two years.
Spain received in the first two months of the year a total of 5.5 million international tourists, which has been a growth of 4.5% over the same period last year, according survey Movements Tourism (Frontur), compiled by the Institute of Tourism Studies, Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
This increase represents the arrival of 235,000 international tourists arrivals compared to our country in the first two months of last year.

The most prominent markets following the issuance of tourists to Spain were Germany and France. In the first two months, came to our country 878,257 German tourists, a number virtually unchanged over the same period last year. As for the French market, third in number of arrivals, has seen an increase of 4.9% in the first two months of the year. Only in February, the French tourist arrivals grew by 8.5%.
It is remarkable behavior in the Nordic market, which issued to Spain for 10.9% of international tourism in the first two months and has registered a growth of 14.6%. As for the Italian market has grown by 18.3% over the first two months of last year. The same growth rate recorded in tourist arrivals from Belgium.
Note also the behavior of the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States during the first two months of the year, in terms of variation. They arrived in Spain in that period by 23% more tourists from the Netherlands, 20% more of tourists from Switzerland and 10.1% more, the United States.

has been the main destination for international tourists with 32.2% of arrivals (1.7 million tourists) in the first two months of the year representing an increase of 13.5% over the same period of 2010.
Catalonia, with 1.2 million international tourists, has been the second region in the reception of international tourists (22.6% of total), an increase of 0.6%. It is followed by Andalusia, with the arrival of 12.8% of all international tourists in the first two months, a total of 703,709 tourists, 2.6% less.

Most of the tourists (81.1%) used in the first two months of the plane as a gateway to Spain, up 5.2% over the same period in 2010. On the other hand, tourists who used alternative routes, such as road (16.1%) increased by 1.5% and those who chose other paths, such as train, boat, etc.. rose 0.3%.
With respect to accommodations, 61.7% of tourists stayed in hotels, representing an increase of 4.2%. Thus, the hotel accommodation registered an increase of 6.1% and the use of own or family home by tourists rose 3.8% international.
Finally, in the form of organizing the trip, 70.6% of tourists who came to Spain they did not tour package, a 6.7% increase, and the rest hired a tour package, which translates into an increase of 0.6% over the same period of 2010.
