Surfing the Internet minimizes the impact of aging, reveals


Internet usage helps boost brain performance in middle-aged and older and thus reduce the impact of aging, according to a study by the University of California, Los Angeles, USA.

Scientists who prepared the study say that the web searches stimulate brain centers that control decision making and complex reasoning, and counter the psychological changes associated with aging.

As the brain ages, a number of changes occur, among which is the contraction and reduction of cellular activity, which can affect performance.



The head of the research published in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Gary Small, "computer technology that have physiological effects and potential benefits for middle and advanced adult age is encouraging."

"The Internet search involves complex brain activity, which may help exercise and improve their function, "says Small.

Among the activities that keep the brain active, such as crosswords or puzzles, and now will add to the Internet navigation list at the suggestion of researchers at the University of California.
